McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon LLP

Our History

Founded May 1, 1989 — serving Hawaii's legal community for over 35 years.

A Legacy of Legal Excellence in Hawaii

McCorriston Miller Mukai MacKinnon LLP was founded on May 1, 1989, when William C. McCorriston and Clifford J. Miller established the firm in Honolulu with a commitment to quality representation and community service. Over the following three-and-a-half decades, the firm grew alongside Hawaii — through the transformation of its economy, the evolution of its legal system, and the emergence of new industries and legal challenges.

Building a Full-Service Firm

From its earliest years, the firm built a reputation for excellence in litigation and corporate matters. As Hawaii's economy diversified, M4 expanded its capabilities to meet the evolving needs of its clients, developing deep expertise in real estate development, public finance, employment law, and Native Hawaiian rights — practice areas shaped by Hawaii's unique history and legal environment.

The Name Partners

The firm's name reflects the contributions of attorneys whose distinguished careers defined M4's reputation: William C. McCorriston, Clifford J. Miller, Franklin K. Mukai, and D. Scott MacKinnon. Each brought landmark matters before Hawaii's courts and government agencies, shaping the law in ways that continue to influence practice today.
